Frequently asked questions

How does teletherapy work?

Teletherapy is therapy provided by a licensed therapist via a video connection that’s secure and remote. It’s similar to traditional in-person therapy but has the convenience of being available at different times and locations that in-person therapy may not be. At Epiphany Counselling we offer the following types of teletherapy:

Video conferencing for individual, couples, or group therapy
Group chat options for group therapy
We understand that life gets in the way and you are busy! That’s why we offer evening and weekend appointments to accommodate busy lifestyles and schedules, making teletherapy more accessible. You deserve to have peace of mind, and we’re here to help you get there.

How do I prepare for my teletherapy appointment?

We’re here to guide you through the process from start to finish, below are some helpful tips to get you started.

The most important way to prepare is showing up for your session being open to the possibility of change. Our therapy environments are completely free from judgment or criticism and we’re passionate about helping you on your way to peace of mind.

Log in 10 minutes before your appointment: Aim to log into the patient portal a few minutes before your appointment, so we can get started as soon as possible.
Check internet/mobile connection: Ensure your internet/mobile connection is working fine, to avoid any unwarranted signal issues during your appointment.
Use headphones: We advise that you use headphones for your appointment, so you can have total privacy (from others who may be in the home) as well as being able to hear us clearly.
Hold tight: Sometimes we can be a minute or two behind, just like in the office! So hold tight and know we’re on our way. If you need to contact us urgently, call 888-457-0543

What devices can I use for my teletherapy appointment?

We’d recommend using a computer or tablet, if you don’t have access to either of these – please don’t hesitate to call us to make alternate arrangements 424-570-6955.

Am I able to have teletherapy appointments after work and during the weekends?

Absolutely. We are here to work with you, whenever is best for you! As well as day time appointments, we have evening and weekend availability to suit your lifestyle and schedule.

Would my teletherapy appointment be secure?

Yes! The video technology uses bank-grade encryption. However, make sure you find a quiet, private place in your home or office for your appointment.

Can I choose my therapist?

Yes, you’re in control of who you speak with.

How much will my teletherapy appointment cost?

Teletherapy appointments are typically covered by your regular health insurance – you’ll enter a credit card before the appointment and will be charged the same copay as an in-person visit. We offer affordable and flexible ways to receive teletherapy, including reduced cash pay rates and a wide range of insurances. Reduced rates are also available for students without insurance.
